First Chapter

Reading this chapter the second time, I noticed, that there are some interesting changes of perspective. Sometimes you see the situation from an objective, third person position: "Typing in revisions, Matt hadn't been paying any attention to Mr. Weinberg at the front of the room talking with two men"(p. 4 l. 21).
But I also found phrases like "Unnaturally close for strangers", which show Matt’s feelings in that moment. Perhaps the two "strangers" weren't actually standing that close, the tense and sudden situation could have just made Matt feel that.

There is always the problem, that you have to clearly recognize and separate the two perspectives, in order to see, whether the facts are subjectively or objectively shown.

Apart from that, I find this first chapter written with a great amount of suspense! Lots of short sentences in a row or words like „deathly silent"(p.5 l.10) make the reader wonder, how the story could go on. In addition, you still don't know anything about Matt's past, making the appearance of the strangers even more fascinating.
